Ricky Harris is the Assistant Principal of Ledford Middle School. Mr. Harris is currently in his thirtieth year of education. He previously served twenty years at Central Davidson Middle School, three years at North Davidson Middle School, and one year at Central Davidson High School after first serving Northwest Ashe High School in Ashe County, North Carolina for five years. In addition to directing the sixth, seventh, and eighth grade bands at Central Middle, he was a member of the board of directors of the Northwest District Bandmasters Association and past middle school auditions chairman. Mr. Harris received his Bachelor’s degree in music education from Appalachian State University and his Master’s Degree in Public School Administration from Gardner-Webb University. He has been an adjudicator and clinician in several school systems in North Carolina and Virginia. His professional memberships include Music Educators National Conference, the North Carolina Music Educators Association, the North Carolina Band Masters Association, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, the National Band Association and American School Band Directors Association. He is also a member of the Davidson County Principal and Assistant Principal’s Association, North Carolina Principal and Assistant Principal’s Association and has also been a member of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD). He was named “Teacher of the Year” for Central Davidson Middle in 1995 and nominated for “Who’s Who Among American Teachers” in 1998-2005. He was also nominated by a student to participate in Disney’s American Teacher Awards.
