Good Evening Ledford Middle School Families,

Students brought home paperwork during the first week of school that need to be reviewed and signed.  Please have your students turn their forms into their homeroom teacher ASAP.

I want to thank all car riders for their patience as we put in the new car rider procedures this week.  The car rider line is running much more smoothly overall, and we believe these changes will help ensure student safety in the mornings and afternoons.  Next week we will be handing out a half sheet of paper for you to write your student's name on to display on the dash of your car.  While this is not required, if your child’s name is displayed it will help our line move quicker.

The Ledford PTO would like to remind you that Scrip order forms were given out at open house. If you are wanting to place a order please turn in you order form and and money by Tuesday at 3pm or go online to shopwithscrip.com using our enrollment code and place your order and send your check in Tuesday. If you need a form there are extras in the office. The next order date will be 9/15.  Also, please turn in your green PTO volunteer form if you are interested in volunteering at the school.

Our media center staff is working hard to get the media center up and running after the remodel.  If you are interested in volunteering to help the media center place books on the shelves, please contact our Media Specialist, Angie Laycock, by calling the school .

And now for your calendar updates.  Tomorrow is Labor Day and there is no school.  I hope you all enjoy the extra day off.  On Tuesday our softball team has a game at Central Davidson beginning at 4:00pm.  On Wednesday the football team plays at home vs. Thomasville, the game begins at 4:30pm.  Students can stay after school for the game, but they must bring a note to their homeroom teacher signed by their parents giving them permission to do so.

August 28, 2016

Good Evening Ledford Middle School Families,

We are excited for our students to return to school tomorrow.  We are looking forward to a great school year.  The school day begins at 8:00am.  Car riders can be dropped off beginning at 7:30am.

I want to let you know that if your child is a car rider in the afternoon, traffic flow for the afternoon car rider line will be slightly different than in the past.  The changes are being made with the safety of our students in mind.  Parents will continue to line up as in the past and can begin making a double line at 2:50pm by pulling up to the line of cones that are in the driveway.  School personnel will be there to direct you at that point.  This year we will merge into a single line for students to load into cars, making sure that students are not crossing a line of traffic to get to their car.  A school staff member will ask you for the name of your child and will direct you to loading area that is numbered.  If your child’s name has to be called out more than 3 times you will be asked to circle around.  These changes were made to make sure that we are creating a safe environment for our students at the car rider line.   If your student is a walker in the afternoon, please send a note to your child’s homeroom teacher.

On Monday and throughout the first week of school numerous forms will be sent home for you to review and send back signed.  If you have any questions about the forms, please let us know.  Please send those signed forms back as soon as possible.

There are two athletic events this week.  Our softball team is at home vs. Tyro on Tuesday at 4pm.  Football has a multi team scrimmage on Wednesday afternoon at 4:30pm.

We are excited about the upcoming school year and can’t wait to see your students on Monday morning.  If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the school.  Thanks for your support of Ledford Middle School.
